Bach Calendars ... Really 20 Bach Calendars 2025?

Bach calendars, so there really are Bach calendars?! So, who invented them? Not us, and not the Swiss either. Indeed, there are one or two. However, no publishing house offers so many Bach calendars as the mini Publishing House Bach 4 You in Southern Germany. And there is really one for every taste. There are very, very conservative and absolutely "cross-brushed", landscape formats and portrait formats, such about the Bach monuments, about the Bach towns and Bach places and others with really cool antiques. Many artists have contributed to a great selection.

If these 33 Bach calendars are not enough for you, then more are constantly being created: they are not in full format, however, but what is known in the industry as brochure calendars. They are also wall calendars, but with a motif on the top half and a huge calendar on the lower half.  Americans like this kind of calendars, and between Thanksgiving and the turn of the year, 99 percent of the bookstores, malls, and some stores sell only brochure wall calendars.

Bach calendars, actually 20 Bach calendars: You can also experience them directly in the store and also the monthly sheets of your favorite Bach calendar, too. To the shop.

Bach calendars and more Bach calendars ... and not only one Bach calendar. That is what you expect on this page. And what else? The story behind some Bach calendars. This page is – like many other websites in the Bach Mission – additionally entertainment.  To the point ... you will only get to the overview in the store. If you simply don't want to read now, but instead are looking for a calendar on the subject of Bach. And thus have terribly little time.

Paris, France. Our first small "work of art" on the subject of Bach was already created here in 2012, that is a caricature. This motif is thus, so to speak, the ancestor of all paintings that you find in a Bach calendar today. And therefore exactly this one motif is also the "great-grandfather" of all motifs for composers calendars, by the way. Please feel free to read about the history of this work. In the next section. And by the way ... in a calendar – that is in a Bach calendar or in a composer calendar – this work did not even make it later. Because there it should be always twelve similar motives. And this work later and below exists just ... as a single unique specimen.

Paris, France

Paris in France: Our first artwork on the subject of Bach was created in this great city, and it is thus the ancestor – so to speak – of all the motifs that followed later for the Bach calendars and the calendars on the subject of "Classical Composers", or "Great Composers" of the  Publishing House Bach 4 You.

The "confectioner church" Sacré Coeur in Paris, France.

But why do you now find so many Bach calendars on a website you searched for with the keywords "calendars and composers"? The answer is simple: Classical composers in general have not always been our primary interest. But only exactly one among them. That is the master from Eisenach, from Thuringia. He has been exciting for us since 2011, which then developed into my husband's whole project Bach on Bach. And with this project, of course, costs arose: for his trips to the Bach cities and Bach places, respectively to many, many Bach monuments. They, the costs, range from expenses for wood engravings, steel engravings, etchings and drawings about Johann Sebastian Bach, to the costs for many websites, to the financing of a unique historical DNA comparison with one of the world's leading experts in this field. In order to project all this in the best possible way, refinancing had become absolutely necessary, and it was precisely for this purpose that I founded the Renate Bach Verlag (Publishing House), or "Bach 4 You" for short.

A first work of art dedicated to Bach was created at a time when we had no idea at all about Bach's work. Nor of his life, his music and the interest of other enthusiasts in him. Nor did we know how many historical pictures of him already existed. Of course, we could have googled many years ago. But we didn't. Today we still don't know why not ... only we simply did not do it. And anyway, except for a few "old masters" like Haußmann, Ihle and Rentsch, hardly any of the motifs would have been free of copyrights. And by the way: These usual paintings from Bach ... after all, they are really not to everyone's taste. Also ours ... not really. And you can't find these paintings on the internet in an acceptable quality. Long, long ago and today we smile when proofreading these paragraphs.

The "Place de Tertre" behind Sacré Coeur Church in Paris.

So the destination of our desire was what? Paris. More precisely? The Place de Tertre, behind the Church of the Sacré Coeur. The small, pleasant square where two to three dozen painters offer their arts. There we wanted to have a "very own Bach" drawn. And that's what we did. "Our" first painting, therefore, on the subject of Bach and thus also – at that time we did not yet see it that way – on the subject of "classical composers". We never dreamed of a later calendar. Not even a first Bach calendar and certainly not a calendar on the theme of "classical composers". Feel free to watch the video to see how the first artwork was created all alone for us. And of course we "bought" it with the permission to publish it and also to sell it. And besides, of course, the artist agreed that we also publish him painting.

The very first work on the subject of composers calendars was created in 2012 on the "Place du Tertre" behind the Sacré Coeur Church in Paris, France. This portrait is thus the ancestor – so to speak – of all Bach artworks at "Bach on Bach" and at the same time of all "Johann Sebastian Bach Calendars" and thus of course also of all calendars on the topic of "Classical Composers". Enjoy the little video how the picture was created (... from 2024), together with some great impressions in Paris, our favorite city in Europe.

A Long Way to Today's Offer

So we finally held it in our hands: the first work of art on the subject of Johann Sebastian Bach. With a huge travel effort of 1,200 kilometers (... 746 miles). And of course with another expense for the artist's fee, which you can see in the video (... or in the pictures). Plus, the costs for the overnight stay. Sure, we already mentioned that, also for the publication of his person we have the permission of the painting master.

So here was the first painting on the subject of Bach, better the first Bach Picture, which was painted for us. Below you can see then also my husband ... while photographing.

Here he is developing ... the ancestor of all pictures related to the theme of "Bach calendars" in the Bach Mission, so to speak ... and related to the theme of "composers calendars".

Almost finished, our first motif to decorate websites, books and even calendars: Johann Sebastian Bach, made in Paris, France. On the right above, Mr. Bach from the feather of Johann Ernst Rentsch, the Elder serves as a model. It is necessary to explain: the "Elder" is not the painter above. But the historical artist who created the original was called Johann Ernst Rentsch the Elder.

The perspective including the artist from Paris ...

... and here on top with my husband "in action". In the foreground is his tripod, with a film camera on top, so that we could also put the whole scene together to a time-lapse movie. And on top of that, there's me with a little camera capturing what my husband is capturing there. Complicated, complicated.

Yes, he is extremely pleased to do that ...my husband: he takes dozens of photos, and all a little bit different.  That's how he is ...

Tadaaa, that' s how we wanted him. Bach as a caricature and, above all, affordable. Other artists offered us Rentsch's copy for three times as much. But we didn't want an exact copy, a duplicate, but something hip, cool and completely different.

We were proud, and we still are today, of this first motif in our huge collection. However, for long-time Bach enthusiasts, the work created in Paris was perhaps a bit too courageous. Even for the very cool Bach fans.

Around this time, a few months later, we got to know a great many Bachs in the USA who are related to Johann Sebastian. That the genes of this most famous and also the greatest musical family of the earth and of all time are still quite clearly recognizable, you quickly notice. Not only are there numerous musicians among them. No, also other musical talents are quite extraordinary. And so we met Briana Bach-Hertzog, fell in love with her painting style and we asked her to paint us a portrait of Bach, similar to the painting she had already done regarding the Bach history, namely the "Empress of Ireland". After the great Bach work of Elias Gottlob Haußmann, but just ... in shades of blue, similar to one of her finished works of art.

She agreed and so a truly impressive masterpiece was created. A real Bach. On the subject of Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Empress of Ireland. After a collision this ship sank in Canada and Reinhold Bach, a cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach drowned. The picture was painted by Briana Bach-Hertzog.

This picture is and remains the star among all of our Bach pictures. And you will find it spread all over the "Bach on Bach" project. Plus, on the "Bach on Bach" website, in our books, as a logo and of course in the calendar about the Thomas Cantor plus in a composers calendar.

Bach Calendars and More Bach Calendars

Since the desire to be able to use even a single Bach portrait for many purposes without restriction and the now possible offer of Bach calendars, composer calendars and also meanwhile music calendars, a lot has happened in the publishing house. The first calendar on the subject of Bach reflects the difficulty to summarize at least twelve things that are available in a calendar: And that was just initially the Bach monuments. Not even from the beginning, because you work your way only very slowly from the Bach monuments known all over the world, such as those in Eisenach and in Leipzig, both Germany to the completely unknown ones, for example in Ansbach, in Ulm and in Prague, Czech Republic. Today, the mini Publishing House Bach 4 You offers exactly 99 different music calendars in the three sizes and two categories mentioned above, that is inexpensive or just ... hot off the press. On this page we want to show you only Bach calendars. So as not to "cause" any confusion. In the store you will find of course all calendars. And promise: not only clearer, but also with much less text.

The Bach Calendars, the Bach Portrait and the "Second Row" of the Famous Bach Painters

Bach calendars, part two. In this calendar you will find a combination of paintings, engravings and erasures of different painters, which portrayed Johann Sebastian Bach in a period of around 270 years. First all twelve portraits of Bach are very serious, and they are almost facsimiles of original art works from back then. All those "trivial" – that is to say the known paintings, that is the one from Haussmann, the one from Ihle and the one from Rentsch – are not part of this calendar, and that is for purpose.

Our Johann Sebastian Bach Mission

I admit that it takes a large portion of "mission" to "transform" so much enthusiasm for one of the great composers of all time into so many calendars. But one thing led to another. And as it is sometimes: What you initially get only very, very poorly, you have at the end of a long journey in excess.

Quite precisely, in this case and on this page, the many works of art on the subject of Johann Sebastian Bach and on the subject of "Classical Composers". And of course you can expect from two creatives in one mission – from my husband with his Project Bach on Bach and me with my Publishing House – also something very special. Even "in the drawer Bach Calendar". You can read more about that in the next section.

We are of course pleased if, in addition to refinancing our expenses, each calendar also does a great deal of public relations work for him, that is for Johann Sebastian Bach, because he, the calendar, "smiles" at your guests and your visitors from his place on your wall. And so you are actively helping us to make Bach even better known in the world than he already is today.

Thank you

Yours, Renate Bach

The Bach Calendar "Historic Bach Portraits"

Some Bach fans certainly like it quite conservative, without all the "cool and hip bells and whistles". And of course, for these Bach fans there is also an offer in the publishing house "Bach 4 You".These are namely the quite serious, historical portraits of Johann Sebastian Bach, repainted by an artist who is alive today and has equipped some of our Bach calendars with his masterpieces. All of the early portraitists lived well over 75 years ago, one even before Bach's death in 1750. Only the Haußmann portrait, by the way, is today considered quite definitely authentic. All the others, including the famous Bach portraits, are said to have been created from the painters' imagination. ✓✓

The Bach Calendar "Bach Places – Bach Faces"

The Second Bach Calendar With Cool, Almost Antique "Jewels"

This Bach Calendar is  so to speak  also the Bach calendar of all Bach calendars (... in the USA and maybe more countries it would be "The Mother of all Bach Calendars"). Twelve great historical parts are so exciting that we wanted to immortalize them all in a Bach calendar.  And that also worked. Today the two Bach calendars are called "Bach Treasures" and "Bach Quodlibet".

The Bach Calendar "Johann Sebastian Bach!"

Mr. Phong is the exceptionally gifted artist in our Johann Sebastian Bach Mission. He is living in Vietnam, and he has created so many, many real exciting pictures and portraits for us. Not just related to the theme of Bach, but especially related to many more composers of classical music, too. Thank you so much, Mr. Phong.

The Bach Calendar "Haußmann by Twelve Artists"
